Overview
The Korea Foundation of Nuclear Safety (KoFONS) is an equipment qualification management agency established according to Article 15(4) of the Nuclear Safety Act and performs business such as issuing certification to equipment qualification agencies, post management, current state survey and giving support according to Article 25(3) of the Enforcement Decree of the Nuclear Safety Act.

Certification
KoFONS receives an application from equipment qualification agencies, which pursue certification as a testing lab and makes a decision through review (document review, on-site review). If the institute is certified, KoFONS provides certification that is valid for 3 years..
Post management
KoFONS conducts regular inspection (1-year interval after certification) and as-necessary inspection (if special issues arise) as part of on-site inspection to check whether equipment qualification agencies meet certification requirements and whether they comply with relevant regulations and other regulations. If the equipment qualification agencies are found to violate regulations, the certification may be cancelled.

KoFONS conducts current state survey to identify the specific information on the operation of equipment qualification agencies, conducts training, establish and operate integrated management system for equipment qualification (including test report and qualification report forgery prevention management system).
